Getting back into the habit of daily attendance matters more than ever as we recover from the pandemic. Going to school is an opportunity for your student to build routines that help reduce stress, connect to their friends and teachers, and engage in learning.

This year, in an effort to reduce chronic absenteeism, while also recognizing the impacts of COVID-19 and that sometimes absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances, Transylvania County Schools reinstated the attendance policy from 2019, allowing an increased number of absences from five to eight per semester.
The TCS Attendance policy is based on federal and state regulations and is consistent with other public school systems in North Carolina. Below are the policy highlights as well as some FAQ's about the policy.
