With senior projects, athletics, arts, AP tests, all the other tests, and all of the many activitiesgoing on; I’m sure most of you have been incredibly busy. I want you to knowthat I am quite confident that through all of our year-end events you will makeus proud of you and leave a positive legacy as the class of 2012. Here are somereminders of some important events that will require your participation andleadership as a class coming up in the next two weeks:

-Tuesday, May 15 is Spring Fun Day and our YearbookPresentation. The senior class will be called out of 4th period alittle before noon to come to the cafeteria and line up to prepare to march into the auditorium. The other students will fill the auditorium at noon and thenyour class will march in to begin the yearbook presentation assembly. After theyearbook assembly and distribution is over, you will have the afternoon toenjoy spring fun day and to sign yearbooks. Please be leaders and show ourunderclassmen a positive example of how to act and behave on this day.

-Friday, May 18 is when our exams begin. Many of you may beexempt from some of your exams but please make sure you have completed all thatis required of you to pass your courses which includes any necessary make-uptime for attendance. You also need to be sure to pay any fines or debts you oweto the school in order to be able to participate in graduation.

-Wednesday, May 23 is our senior awards recognitionceremony. You do not need to worry about reporting to class on this morning. Weask that you simply report to the cafeteria by 8:15. We will have a specialsenior recognition breakfast planned for you on this morning. After you eat, wewill line up for our processional and your class will march in to theauditorium to begin the awards presentation at 9:00. You will be free to leavecampus for the day as soon as the awards ceremony is over. You must wear yourcap and gown to this event. Please be sure to get it out of the bag and hang itup before this day so it is not wrinkled. The little white collar included inthe gowns for the ladies is optional and does not need to be worn on this dayor at graduation.

-Thursday, May 24 is our graduation practice at BrevardMusic Center. You must report to the large outdoor auditorium there by 1:00 onthat afternoon. Please come down and sit in the seats in the first few rows ofthe auditorium and be ready to start at 1:00. We will get you out of there assoon as we can which is largely based on how smoothly things go. You may justwear normal clothes on this day—do not bring your caps and gowns.

-Friday May 25 is GRADUATION DAY! You must be at BrevardMusic Center by 4:30. Bring your cap and gown on a hanger—there will be a placefor you to hang it up and get ready prior to the ceremony. The ceremony beginsat 6:00. Please encourage your family and friends coming to the ceremony tocarpool. We also ask that you speak to your family and friends about thedignity of the ceremony and ask them to respect everyone by not causing any distractionor disruption during the ceremony. Each family deserves to hear their senior’sname called clearly so please ask your family and friends to respect that.

It has been an honor serving as your principal and the classof 2012 will always be memorable to me as my first senior class as principal ofBHS. All of the others will have a high bar to reach to compare to you!
